11 course meal for two at The Collection Bar

Deal: The Collection: 11-Course Meal for Two People with Two Cocktails
Deal Provider: LivingSocial
Price: £60 (57% discount off RRP of £140)
Deal expires: Monday, 29th November 2010, 6:00am

Description:
It is going to be near impossible to turn on the telly for the foreseeable future without having to endure royal wedding madness. So get out of the house and treat your taste buds to the uber-cool kitchen at The Collection.

The menu — a mustn’t miss for Kylie Minogue, Jay-Z, and a slew of other A-listers — offers top-class pan-Asian eats. Fork over £60, and see-and-be-seen during a dinner for two at this chic Chelsea spot.

The 11-course tasting menu — think carrot, ginger, and coriander soup, rainbow rolls, scallops shioyaki — would regularly set you back £140. Full disclosure: Wills and Harry have been known to stop in for sushi, so you might as well wish for a first-hand sighting of Kate’s new rock during supper. If not, you can just settle for the tempura rock prawns — hardly a sacrifice.

Our Verdict/Review:
Awesome blockbuster meal deal from LivingSocial at The Collection, a place in Chelsea famous for its bar. They are right about the celebrities; quite a number go through there each week, especially Prince William and the Chelsea Football Club according to Time Out.

So its a great place to go celebrity spotting, but this deal is about the food. A monster 11 course meal of asian-inspired dishes, as well as a free cocktail each. It doesn’t come cheap though – £60 for two people, working out to £30. Still quite cheap, compared to three course meals at good restaurants.

But is the food at The Collection good? Its strong point is certainly its bar and the nightlife that goes with it; but the menu does look delicious and exciting, its the execution which is the unsure bit for me. The other uncertainty is the value of the deal; tasting menus are usually smaller portions than you would get if you order the dishes a la carte, and its not possible to just tally up the a la carte menu prices to get the original price. On The Collection’s website, there is no 11-course tasting menu, so this was specially created for LivingSocial.

Still, its probably worth going for a dinner on a Friday or Saturday evening (there’s no restrictions for use of the voucher), and staying on in their bar (if you can) for a great night out!
